His Honour John Roderick Seton Adams Arms : Per chevron Gules and Argent in chief two cross crosslets fitch�e Argent and in base a saltire Azure between an edock leaf Vert in chief and three crescents Gules in flanks and base. Crest : A cross crosslet fitch�e Gules surmounted by a sword in saltire Azure hilted and pommelled Or Motto : VIRTUS VERITAS Granted : The Court of the Lord Lyon 14th October 1987. Lyon Register, volume 71, folio 54. The arms were granted in memory of my father George Gershom Adams. "The cross crosslets fitche are for Adams, the dock leaf and saltire are for Marshall, my father's maternal line. The three crescents are for Seton. The crest has been used on seals, rings and silver for at least four generations of the family in Edinburgh but no earlier matriculation exists!"
