ScotClans working with the Clans
ScotClans spends a great deal of time engaging with the clan audience worldwide and working with Clan societies. Here are a few examples of work we do with the clans
Case Studies
COSCA
ScotClans has a close relationship with the Council of Scottish Clans & Associations over on the USA. In July 2014 ScotClans was invited over to the COSCA Clan Caucus at Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and teamed up with COSCA at their Clan Information stall as well as running Workshops and presentations on Clans and Social Media.

Clan Donald and Arisaig
In 2014 ScotClans began to attend Clan and Highland Gatherings with a view to offering a similar ‘find your clan’ service that COSCA do over in the USA. As a first test we attended Arisaig Games and worked with Clan MacDonald of Clanranald. You can read more about our event at Arisaig here>>
Durie Family Association
We have been working closely with the Durie Family Association (they are a family not a clan) for many years. One of the problems the Duries had as a small clan was a lack of availability of items in their tartan and with their Crest, we were certainly able to assist with clan merchandise as any of our own clan branded items are made in house but tartan was another matter.
After some work we were able to convince one of our lightweight tartan suppliers to stock weave the Durie tartan meaning for the first time in the families history members were able to obtain ties, bow ties, scarves, sashes etc in their family tartan. We also worked with another tartan weaver who makes kilt quality material and by arranging some pre orders of Durie Kilts we were able to commission a run of kilt weight material.
The Durie’s also held a major gathering this year and we took the opportunity to organise to have a stand of Durie merchandise available for a few hours during one of the scheduled events.
Clan MacNab
in 2013 Jamie MacNab of MacNab became inherited the title of chief of the clan. Jamie MacNab was keen to revive worldwide interest in the clan again and looked at social media and the internet as the way to move this forward. ScotClans has worked closely with the clan and produced a new clan website that included a range of plug in features for social media. The design of the MacNab website is such that it can easily be replicated for other clan societies and the long term plan is to be able to offer bespoke technical services to a wider range of clan societies. You can visit the MacNab site at www.clan-macnab.com
ScotClans has also worked with the clan at their recent gathering and again provided a clan merchandise table as well as offering advice on social media to the clan at their AGM
