Pentland History
The surname Pentland was taken from an ancient, but suppressed parish of the same name in Midlothian.
Around 1298-1299, Adam of Pentland was a monk at Holyrood, and in 1304, or 1305, Ralph de Penteland was sent to Montrose, in Angus, to arrest a vessel.
