The Callenders or Callanders are named after the barony of Callander in Perthshire.
In 1248 Alwyn de Calyntyr was witness to a grant by Maldoueny, earl of Lennox to Stephen de Blantyr, and a Richard Callender was constable of Stirling Castle in 1282.
